Meg Eden is a 2020 Pitch Wars mentee, and her work is published or forthcoming in magazines including Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest, Crab Orchard Review, RHINO and CV2. She teaches creative writing at Anne Arundel Community College. Valerie Nieman’s Leopard Lady: A Life in Verse, joins two earlier collections from Press 53. Her work has appeared widely, from The Georgia Review to Poetry to journals in Ireland and Greece, and been published in numerous anthologies, including Eyes Glowing at the Edge of the Woods and Ghost Fishing: An Eco-Justice Poetry Anthology. Her Press 53 novel Blood Clay won the Eric Hoffer Prize in General Fiction, while her fourth novel, To the Bones, has been acclaimed as “a parable of capitalism and environmental degradation." Backwater, a YA/crossover thriller, will be published in 2022. She has held NEA and state creative writing fellowships. A West Virginia University graduate, she was a newspaper reporter and editor before completing her MFA at Queens University of Charlotte.
