A fresh batch of chapbooks is coming to the vending machine at The Soup Kitchen Cafe! Come toast the release of the 2017 Breadbox Chapbook Series with a night of readings from chapbook authors Meg Eden and Rasha Abdulhadi.
The Soup Kitchen Cafe is located on the corner of Frankford and Susquehanna in Fishtown.
Meg Eden's work has been published in various magazines, including Rattle, Drunken Boat, Poet Lore, RHINO and Gargoyle. She teaches creative writing at the University of Maryland. She has five poetry chapbooks, and her novel "Post-High School Reality Quest" is published with California Coldblood, an imprint of Rare Bird Books. Rasha is a queer Palestinian Southerner who grew up between Damascus and rural Georgia and cut her teeth organizing on the southsides of Chicago and Atlanta. She is a cultural worker, educator, community technologist, a once and future farmer and beekeeper, as well as a member of the Radius of Arab American Writers and Alternate ROOTS. Her work has appeared in Mslexia, Mizna, Room, |tap| magazine, and atsinnerscreek.com. She is a contributor to Luminescent Threads: Connections to Octavia Butler (Twelfth Planet Press 2017).
